Human skin is constantly assaulted by the external environment, protecting us from air, Ultraviolet radiation (UVR), environmental pollutants, and other mechanical and chemical insults, all of which have been piled into the coined term ” exposome ,” to describe the entirety of exposures to which an individual is subjected. The skin’s ability to protect us can be easily impaired by numerous factors such as psychological stress, alcohol and illicit drug intake, and poor nutrition, all of which further allow external factors to do harm by creating free radicals such as reactive oxygen species (ROS)

Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner just took punny Halloween costumes to new heights.  On Monday, the two “ Game of Thrones ” co-stars shared photos of their matching costumes ― “hash brownies” ― on Instagram, and we have to say, they totally nailed it. To make their costumes, which reference both literal weed brownies and the Girl Scouts program, the two wore yellow Brownies T-shirts, brown skirts and sashes with marijuana patches.  “Nortiness ensues,” Turner captioned her pic, while Williams wrote, “everyone loves a hash brownie.”  Nortiness ensues A photo posted by Sophie Turner (@sophiet) on Oct 31, 2016 at 11:46am PDT The stars are just two of the many celebrities who brought their A-games this Hallo-weekend. Mexico City organized a Day of the Dead parade for the first time on Saturday, inspired by the opening scenes from the 2015 James Bond film, “Spectre.” Thousands looked on as giant skeleton marionettes and scores of dancers marched through Mexico’s capital, but many Mexicans expressed outrage with the mutation of the traditionally intimate festival. On the Day of the Dead, which dates back to the Aztec period , Mexicans traditionally take picnic baskets to their relatives’ graves or eat by altars decorated with memorabilia in their own homes. Lourdes Berho, chief executive of Mexico’s tourism board, has said that “Spectre,” in which Bond chases a villain through a parade of people dressed up as skeletons, has raised expectations for large-scale Day of the Dead festivities

A 1980s funk band is suing Bruno Mars  and Mark Ronson for allegedly copying parts of its song for use in their hit track “ Uptown Funk .” Collage’s lawsuit claims the Grammy Award–winning 2014 Mars/Ronson collaboration ― which has sold more than 6 million copies and garnered almost 2 billion YouTube views ― borrows heavily from its 1983 single “ Young Girls. ” The complaint, which music website Pitchfork obtained on Saturday , alleges that “many of the main instrumental attributes and themes of ‘Uptown Funk’ are deliberately and clearly copied from ‘Young Girls.’” Listen to Collage’s “Young Girls” here: And compare it to “Uptown Funk” here: Collage’s surviving member Larry White and the estates of its two late members, Grady Wilkins and Lee Peters, are listed as filing the lawsuit, reports the Independent.

Criticism of FBI Director James Comey ratcheted up dramatically late Sunday as he faced both a rare public rebuke by the former attorney general who once oversaw him and the first call for his resignation by a member of Congress. Comey has been at the center of a political storm since issuing a vaguely worded letter on Friday ― 11 days before the election ― that indicated the FBI was reviewing more emails that could be related to its probe of  Hillary Clinton ’s use of a private email server. In an op-ed for The Washington Post, former attorney general Eric Holder charged that Comey’s letter had “violated long-standing Justice Department policies and tradition,” and he called on the FBI director to “ dispel the uncertainty he has created before Election Day.

Capitalism is predicated on the idea of individual initiative. The most obvious economic manifestation of that is entrepreneurship, a talent that’s touted on the television show Shark Tank , a kind of American Idol for those with an acumen for business. But the greatest capitalist of them all Adam Smith, the author of The Wealth of Nations , which did for capitalism what Das Kapital would for revolution, also wrote a book called The Theory of Moral Sentiments in which human empathy was the subject

Use caution before visiting Google ’s main page today. The company has unveiled a new Google Doodle in celebration of Halloween , and the game is so addictive you might forget to answer the door for the trick-or-treaters.  The Magic Cat Academy involves a cat in a Hogwarts-like school of magic using a wand to ward off ghosts. In a blog post, the company said the Doodle was inspired by a real-life cat named Momo.  “The original concept for the game involved a magic cat making a soup that was so good, it raised the dead,” the blogpost says. “Connecting soup to Halloween proved too abstract, so the team shifted to the idea of a wizard school. This opened the door to a more robust world filled with interesting characters and paw-some themes.” Play the Magic Cat Academy here . Just be sure to clear your schedule for the rest of the day.

A common question I get is “How do I get a bank loan to fund my startup?” The default answer is that it probably won’t happen, because most banks just don’t make bank loans to startups. A favored way to ramp up was to hire consultancies like IDEO, Frog or DesignworksUSA to develop one’s design strategy. James Comey’s decision to inform Congress that the FBI had discovered emails on a laptop belonging to disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner that may be relevant to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server has roiled the presidential campaign with days to go before the election. His letter provided little details about the emails, leaving the ambiguous discloser subject to interpretation and wild speculation by Trump supporters. At a Friday rally, Donald Trump hailed the news as “bigger than Watergate,” even though all of the emails may be just copies of those released earlier to the FBI.
