Denver is making green history yet again. The city’s voters appear to have legalized the social use of marijuana in permitted private establishments, according to election results released Monday evening
Donald Trump ’s campaign manager accused a protester who was involved in a Secret Service scare Saturday night of being a Democratic “plant.” “ This guy was a Democrat, probably a plant ,” Kellyanne Conway said Sunday during an interview on Fox News. Trump was rushed offstage by Secret Service agents during a rally in Reno, Nevada, after someone shouted “gun” near a protester in the crowd. The Secret Service said no weapon was found at the scene.
With less than two weeks until Election Day, Donald Trump is, for the most part, still insisting to his supporters that he’s in the lead. While he conceded in one radio interview Monday that he was “somewhat behind in the polls,” Trump said the same day that “I really believe we are winning” and claimed that “Democrats are making up phony polls.” Members of his campaign, though, are openly admitting that the businessman is lagging behind. Trump’s campaign manager, pollster Kellyanne Conway, also conceded that the GOP nominee was trailing, saying Sunday “we are behind.” Although Trump says he no longer believes the polls , his internal data apparently mirrors what publicly available surveys are showing
The deposition transcript for Taylor Swift ’s countersuit against a Denver radio DJ who she says grabbed her inappropriately has been released. David Mueller initially filed a lawsuit against Swift , claiming he lost his job after being accused of inappropriately touching the singer during a meet-and-greet session at Denver’s Pepsi Center in 2013. Swift countersued , alleging Mueller “intentionally reached under her skirt, and groped with his hand an intimate part of her body in an inappropriate manner, against her will, and without her permission.” In the transcript from her July 26 deposition , Swift described the incident in detail. “Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, he took his hand and put it up my dress and grabbed onto my ass cheek, and no matter how much I scooted over it was still there,” she said. “It was not an accident, it was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life.” The “Blank Space” singer recalled feeling “violated in a way I had never experienced before.” “I remember saying how a meet-and-greet is supposed to be a situation where you’re thanking people for coming, you’re supposed to be welcoming people into your home, which is the arena for that day, and for someone to violate that hospitality in that way, I was completely stunned,” she said
Authorities in Philadelphia will station prosecutors throughout the city on election day to respond to any reports of voter intimidation or other illegal activity after Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump claimed that polling might be “rigged” in this mostly minority city. Philadelphia is one of many U.S
“Good for Mike Coffman.” That’s the first line of an August Denver Post editorial, and, as it turns out, an excellent summation of the The Post editorial page’s singular stance toward Coffman over many years. I just finished reviewing five years of Post editorials mentioning Coffman, and, of the 43 editorials citing the Aurora Republican Congressman during that period, including two endorsements, he’s been criticized only four times, while being praised in 34 editorials.
Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of trying to “rig the debates” by scheduling them against football games. Not only do the facts reject this argument, but Trump ignores his own double- standard, as he pulled the plug on several debates with Republican opponents in 2016

Mitt Romney delivered some searing criticism of Donald Trump ‘s presidential campaign on Friday, hitting the presumptive Republican nominee for his own attacks on Latinos, Muslims and women. “I simply can’t put my name down as someone who voted for principles that suggest racism or xenophobia, misogyny, bigotry, for someone who’s been vulgar time and time again,” Romney, one of the GOP’s most vocal Trump critics, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I don’t want to be associated with that in any way, shape or form.” More…
In his recent rant against a 62-year-old Indiana-born Latino judge, Donald Trump reveals that he is more than anti-Mexican.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook announced he will not play for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, adding to a substantial roster of NBA stars who are opting out of the games. “After speaking with my family, I have decided to not participate in this year’s Olympics,” Westbrook said in a statement released Friday

Vice President Joe Biden endorsed presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for president on Thursday, hours after President Barack Obama publicly declared his support for Clinton. “In my view, God willing, it’ll be Secretary Clinton,” Biden said, referring to the next president, during an address at the American Constitution Society convention in Washington
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Thursday he’ll vote for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump , but still doesn’t trust him with America’s nuclear arsenal. “I stand by everything I said during the campaign,” Rubio told the Weekly Standard , when asked about a statement he made in February, before he dropped out of the presidential race, that he didn’t want to turn over the U.S
Between running an empire, raising two kids and and mastering the perfect selfie, Kim Kardashian has a hard time keeping up with herself sometimes, OK? In a preview clip of this Sunday’s episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kimberly comes to face-to-face with her longtime bestie Jonathan Cheban and (gasp!) his replacement friend he calls when Kim is too busy to hang out. Spoiler alert: the replacement (Kamilla Osman) also happens to be a Kardashian doppelgänger. More…
For millions of Syrian refugees, what used to be simple tasks back home — such as doing laundry or cooking dinner — have become complicated, time-consuming burdens in refugee camps and informal settlements they now live in. In Lebanon, for instance, there are more than 1 million Syrian refugees , and displaced families there are living in dire conditions. More..

President Obama issued a video endorsement of Hillary Clinton; Joe Biden’s video will presumably be up as soon as the vice president works out the kinks in his fog and laser machines. Bernie Sanders effectively ended his campaign as he began it: looking disheveled in Washington with no one really caring about his agenda
With the first day of summer less than two weeks away, it’s the perfect time to talk about enjoying the sun safely, cooling down with healthy sips, and exercising in the great outdoors. It’s one of my favorite times of the year because we have more time to relax and if we’re lucky enough, take a well-deserved vacation. Before you kick back at the beach, pool, or simply on your back porch, remember to keep these summer safety tips in mind.

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James stepped in front of Steph Curry Wednesday night with less than three minutes remaining in the third and and got his fingertips on a lazily lobbed Golden State Warriors pass. After nearly falling to the ground, James sent the rock ahead to Kyrie Irving, who tossed it near the rim, leading LeBron into the one-handed oop
In January, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) made an announcement that rendered science textbooks everywhere out-of-date: Four new elements had been added to the Periodic Table . The elements, which had made the scientific chart’s seventh row officially complete, didn’t have the sexiest names. Temporarily dubbed 113, 115, 117 and 118, IUPAC said the elements would receive official names in the subsequent months

This week, I will be joining nearly 800 local, state and federal thought leaders and policymakers committed to expanding supportive housing to create more opportunities for vulnerable individuals and families to move into permanent, stable homes where they can receive the services necessary to stay housed and healthy. We are looking ahead, mapping the future of supportive housing, as we gather in Chicago, Illinois at the national CSH Summit 2016 . The Summit is attracting public officials, housing developers, major philanthropic foundations, financial institutions, advocates and supportive housing residents from every corner of the country.
We can all look back and wish we had managed our finances differently — if only someone had taught us the dangers of debt and the benefits of long-term regular investing. Put that regret to good use by sharing this column with a new college grad. They are the ones with time on their side — time to put those lessons to good use.

Olivia Wilde announced her second pregnancy in a totally amazing way — and if her most recent red carpet appearance is any indication, she’s going to spend the next several months being equally as amazing. The “Vinyl” star arrived on the CFDA Awards red carpet in New York City on Monday night wearing a skintight, deep green Rosie Assoulin gown with the most perfect cut-out — right alongside her stomach.

While a pro-LGBT amendment was adopted, two discriminatory amendments were, too, poisoning the appropriations bill. If you haven’t been paying attention, the past few weeks have seen several high-profile legislative fights on LGBT rights break out on the floor of the U.S
We’re only a few weeks into the presumptive general election, and the wheels are already coming off Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The Trump team is struggling with internal discord over his overtly racist tirade against a federal judge, MSNBC’s Katy Tur and Benjy Sarlin reported Monday. Trump has repeatedly accused the judge, who was born in Indiana, of bias against him due to the judge’s Mexican heritage

Nearly 250 million video surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the world , and chances are you’ve been seen by several of them today. Most people barely notice their presence anymore — on the streets, inside stores, and even within our homes. We accept the fact that we are constantly being recorded because we expect this to have virtually no impact on our lives
Polls show Hillary Clinton narrowly ahead in the California Democratic primary. “Brexit” polls show a lot of uncertainty about the UK’s June 23 referendum on whether to stay in the European Union. And most Americans back overtime eligibility expansion
When Muhammad Ali refused to take the oath of induction into the U.S. Army in 1967 in Houston, Texas, he became a hero to those that were against the war, but he also became toxic to many that were in favor of it and even to some of those in the mainstream.
This election cycle has been heavy on rhetoric and light on policy. Given that nearly 50% of Americans consider themselves angrier than a year ago – with white Republicans being the angriest – it’s no wonder that rather than having substantive discussions, most solutions being offered currently are knee jerk reactions that have little to no factual support. A prime example of this are the changes many conservatives endorse for “fixing” public education
Deshauna Barber, a 26-year-old Army officer from the District of Columbia, won the Miss USA crown on Sunday night. During the annual beauty pageant, which was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Barber beat out 51 other women for the title. She will go on to compete in the Miss Universe contest later this year
I grew up in a home in Delaware listening to voices speak Turkish in the kitchen while I watched English television in the living room. Like many immigrant children, conversations took place in multiple languages in my house. And like many immigrant families, my parents understood that while there was no requirement to abandon their heritage when moving to America, the limited availability of foreign media in that era meant certain cultural sacrifices.

Kudos to Secretary Hillary Clinton for her foreign policy speech in San Diego this week. She affirmed her credentials as a visionary leader on the world stage and made a strong and convincing case for why a Donald Trump presidency would be catastrophic for our nation. Judging by his reaction, she clearly hit some nerves beneath his thin skin
In the early days of television, what I call “warmth”, they referred to as “charm”. It’s a magical, mesmerizing quality you can’t quite define – that jumps from the screen and enraptures you in a blanket of utter delight. OK, that might be a tad over the top, but you can’t overstate the value of warmth in a morning TV host.

When the United Nations convenes this week for its High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS, the corridors will be buzzing with talk of “the end of AIDS.” UNAIDS tells us that it will happen provided key testing and treatment targets, including doubling the number of people on antiretroviral treatment, are achieved within four years. UNAIDS and major funders have determined that a “fast-track” strategy–focusing on a subset of countries with highest transmission–is the best way to reach these goals
Easy Listener: Sizzling-Hot Jazz/Cabaret CDs From Barb Jungr, Dane Vannatter, Barbara Fasano, Tony Yazbeck
There was a time not that long ago when cabaret rooms and jazz rooms were considered distinct territories. You might say the difference came down to–this is an extreme generalization, of course–the former venues being a place where lyrics took precedence and the latter venues being a place where melodies took precedence
Translator’s note: Since the end of March France has been roiled by protests over the Socialist government’s proposals to loosen France’s famously rigid labor laws. The Nuit Debout movement, modeled on Occupy Wall Street and anti-austerity movements in Spain and elsewhere, began with nightly assemblies in the Place de la République in Paris.
Cognitive dissonance is described as the mental discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas or values at the same time. It’s analogous to the gender dysphoria suffered by many trans persons when their innate biological sense of self doesn’t match the gender they were assigned at birth and in which they were raised
