Putang Bridge Cishan Temple Fair
Since Ming Dynasty, Nanjing is rife with Ancestral Temple Fair, among which Lishui Putang Bridge Temple Fair is the most representative that has a history of around 550 years till now.
Tradition has it that March, 26 in the Chinese lunar calendar is the birthday of Ancestral Temple Emperor and local residents would follow the rite to hold a temple fair for paying tributes so as to achieve good weather for crops and a bumper grain harvest. The temple activity normally lasts three days starting from March, 25 and ending on March, 26 in the Chinese lunar calendar. The activity has strict procedure and the scene is both intense and convivial. Each household on the route of the fair would position an incense burner table to greet the Bodhisattva. During the three-day period, surrounding residents pay a visit to friends and relatives, burn joss sticks, pay worships to Gods and watch full-scaled dramas and its festival atmosphere can even trump that during Spring Festival.
Luoshan Great Dragon
Luoshan Dragon has a history of more than 400 years. Legend goes that it’s closely connected with the pursuit of highest imperial exam by Yang Pei’an. Rumor is that he begged Taoist Master Zhang to relieve a little white dragon from being punished when he took shelter from rain in the temple. He took the little white dragon to Luoshan Village and asked it to bring welfare to local people by shedding raindrops. Henceforth, the custom of dragon dance took form.
Luoshan Village is bordering on Shijiu Lake that laid bare in a large part during low water season in winter and is the natural stage for dragon dance performance. Luoshan Dragon is gigantic in shape and involves plentiful participators. With particularity on craftsmanship, it is addressed as ‘No.1 Dragon in regions south of the Yangtze River’. 108 generals are bundled to the dragon head, including Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, who made an oath in the Peach Garden and such heroes in folksy legend, including Yang Zongbao, Mu Guiying, Fan Lihua and the like. In the performance, a circa-10-meter thick string is connected to the dragon’s tail trawled by over 10 hunks to display the effect of balance. Moreover, such needs to be made as dragon flag, colored flags, big and small lanterns, trumpets, horseshoe cannon, French curve and colored embroidery. Big gong, bass drum, foreign horn, blunderbuss and other percussion instruments go along with them to embody promising wishes and aspirations.
Shiqiu Ancient Gingko
Ancient gingko tree is lying in Shangfang Village, Shiqiu Town, Lishui, which is aged over 1800 years. Legend goes that it was planted by Sun Quan. It’s the most ‘ancient’ tree found in Nanjing by far. Hallow in the trunk, it is rank and verdant in lateral branches with a layer of dense polygonum multiflorum lying on it.
Chang Le Bridge
Crossing over Ergan River at the northern end of Wolong Bridge, Changle Bridge is the most ancient existent stone arch bridge in Lishui and served as a courier route in ancient times. It was revamped by Liu Ji and other county fellows during the reign of Wanli Emperor in Ming Dynasty. Spanning 39.5 meters in length, it’s a three-hole plat arch bridge and is built by bricks via segmentation and paralleling with no beams installed in between. The bridge is still intact flanked by 6 demons to suppress the water. Stone tablets used to sit north of the bridge are down to turtle pedestal. The bridge as a whole still demonstrates the style of Song Dynasty.
Built in Ming Dynasty, Yongshou Tower is one of the ten major pagodas in Nanjing and is a brick-wood pavilion building. It’s a geomantic pagoda built to alter wobbling economy, shrinking population and swooning writing style in Lishui back then. Featuring characteristics of Ming Dynasty, Yongshou Tower blazed the unprecedented of Qing-style dermatoglyphic pattern, which is of important value to the study of the evolution of patterns in ancient buildings. The statue of Cui Zhiyuan, a Confucianism Clan master of Korea and a museum is built within the boundary of Yongshou Tower. The museum stores plentiful cultural relics.
Putang Bridge is located over Putang River at the southern end of Yuge Market Town. The ancient nine-hole arcade stone bridge is the largest ancient stone arc bridge in Nanjing. Built in Ming Dynasty, it harks back to over 500 years. The ancient Putang Bridge spans 91.3 meters, which has 8 bridge piers with cutwater and 9 bridge arches, showing a magnificent shape.
It’s alleged that Zhao Qi, a local distinguished gentleman, spent five years building Putang Bridge starting from the Third Year under the reign of Zhengde Emperor of Ming Dynasty (1508). He shelled out all he had and was laden with disease for it. In the Tenth Year under the reign of Zhengde Emperor of Ming Dynasty, to celebrate the honorary course of action done by Zhao Qi, Chen Xian, a local county minister of Lishui, renamed Putang Bridge as Shangyi Bridge and erected an inscription entitled Records of Shangyi Bridge under the bridge. He built Shangyi Stone Lane in Putang Street to say eulogy of it. The local place is still rife with the beautiful legend of construction of Putang Bridge by Zhao Yi.
Adjacent to the Zhou Family Garden, as a fusion of rural folk and farming & agricultural enjoyment, it is an eco-rural tourism demonstration site integrating farming displays, art creation and culinary experience.

Nanjing Zhou Park

There are thick forests and lush vegetation along the shore, where migratory birds come to nest and settle, sing and play frolicly.
Dongping Lake with a beautiful environment surrounded on three sides by green hills is the second largest reservoir in Nanjing. Due to its limpid water and attractive fish resource, the whole fish feast here is much prestigious.
Zhongshan Lake is the third largest reservoir in Nanjing and the drinking water source of Lishui District as its water is quite clear and transparent. Sunrise over Zhongshan Lake has become one focus favored by photographers.
The lake stretches to the horizon, with water quality reaching the national Grade II standards. It has so far kept a good ecological landscape, with many natural types of scenery, including lakes & creeks, forest & grassland, singing birds including egrets, jointly creating a natural oxygen bar.
Shijiu Lake Natural Wetland Reserve Area
Shijiu Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Nanjing, known as the wintering ground for migratory birds, is the best place to watch and the best point to photograph small swans, bean geese, egrets and other birds. The lake district with striking natural scenery is rich in aquatic resources. "Shijiu Fishing Song" is one of the ancient "Eight Scenic Sights of Zhongshan (Lishui)".
