MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts speculated recently about whether there was enough soap in America to wash off the mud splattered by the dirty, depressing, and uninspired efforts by both presidential candidates to win votes. A week ago, we answered the question of who will lead us over the next four years.
The inglorious TV election drama has finally ended. In Left Coast San Francisco, a post-election pall of fog hangs over our city, much like the hanging chads of 2000. We finally have a president-elect, but he might not be the one you wanted
Are routines useful? How can I establish good ones, if so?

I fell in love with a woman, named Dawn, who values diversity as much as I do… I had to marry her. So what a better way to celebrate our union than to have a Big Fat Queer Wedding! When we talked about a theme, there was only one logical answer for both of us, Let Your Freak Flag Fly! We wanted to celebrate in the way we live our life.
I did not expect Donald Trump to be elected president and, like most people, I was surprised when he won. On January 20th he becomes our head of government and head of state; the president is both prime minister and king.
For those of you who do not already know, the Esalen Institute is home to a truly unique, magical, loving, authentic community of highly intelligent, well-educated and talented thought-leaders committed to positive global transformation. I was extremely honored to be invited to teach alongside some of my favorite teachers such as Sally Kempton , Terry Hunt, Chip Conley and so many others, but when they told me that Reverend Michael Beckwith would also be there I have to admit that I was intimidated
For the first time in my 50 years on this earth, I have started to doubt that I will see a woman president in my lifetime. There I said it. I have had to wrestle with, and accept a fact so foreign and unexplainable to me: a lot of women seem to have an innate bias against other women

You may not be a therapist, but I bet you had the same experience I did the day after the election: everyone, at home, in my lobby, in the street, in the cafe, on my way to work, and of course, in my office, needed to talk.
Last week, we pre-empted our usual Talking Points format for a pre-election column.
We are in an exciting time for biomedical innovation, but there is still much to be done to realize science’s promise. President-elect Donald Trump will need to work to ensure an environment where innovation and ingenuity here in the United States continue to thrive. And we have some ideas about where to start.
I wrote the following this morning and now comes word tonight that Leonard Cohen, one of the greatest writers of our time (poet, novelist, songwriter) has died at the age of 82. “Give me back the Berlin Wall.” Of course, Leonard Cohen, who at the age of 82 has just released one of his greatest and most popular albums, You Want It Darker , didn’t really mean that, a quarter-century ago. He sang in the guise of the unreliable narrator in his classic, and scary, song “The Future.” Other Cohen lyrics from that little ditty, written just after the 1989 fall of the Wall, call for the return of Stalin, more people to torture, and another Hiroshima, among other horrors.
Many years ago, I set foot on this country as a 7-year-old. At first, I was sad and woefully shy.

Her intonation alternates between whimsy and passion. This was all on display at her recent Town Hall show when she took the stage with a string quartet plus bass and drums.
As a Latina, I’m more than concerned by the shocking news that yesterday history was made, but not in the sense we expected. It was supposed to be the moment for the first female president in the US history, a moment to remember, as has happened in every country where the presidential glass ceiling has been broken.
It doesn’t matter whether Christians are part of the conversation or not, social media brings out the best and the worst of the online community.

Dear Hillary: I’m an Independent, former Republican, and I’m voting for you. I have disagreed with some of your political views, but I’ve been a fan of yours since your “baking cookies” comment in 1992 . If we are lucky enough to dodge the catastrophe of Donald Trump there is no going back to politics as usual.
It was an impossible task. Get together the million selling lead singer of Snap! Thea Austin, who is often out touring singing one of her 20 #1 singles including “Rhythm Is A Dancer;” Morgan Mallory, in demand live artist, new album “Manifesto” out and now the former Voice contestant is a vocal teacher; Daniel Charleston, in demand in Southern California for his chorus performances and as a featured artist in Pacific Opera Project; and me, the big gay entertainer and talk show host with a dream to sing about being better.

Anyone who thinks a minor event like voting is going to shut down the television news industry’s coverage of the 2016 presidential election probably also thinks The Walking Dead is a spinoff from the Grateful Dead. Nope, in all likelihood Tuesday’s voting will give the TV news channels a chance to say, “Hmmm, someone won, that’s interesting,” and wade right back in. Truth is, we’ve learned a lot both from and about contemporary television news in this election.
I’m dreaming of November 9, when our national fever has broken and the night sweats are washed away, and while still weak, we open ourselves up to a shared journey of recouping our strength and restoring our fragile constitution. I’m dreaming of November 9, and the days after November 9, when the bitter edge of combat is dulled, and our spirits less brittle and hostile and stunted we allow our vulnerabilities to be an open path rather than an attack strategy
By Kevin Hoffman The number of Illinoisans who voted early, before Election Day, has reached record levels.
If Hillary actually responded to the number of emails that have reportedly been screened by the FBI, then she would have spent 8.56 hours per day answering each email in less than one second. That’s probably why she forgot to approve this campaign video that we uncovered
A group of senior industry leaders will gather in the Miami, November 16-18 for the upcoming Beet Retreat , a deep dive into the future of advanced TV. The three-day event will not be streamed, but will be produced as a series of some 40 videos to be published over the following four weeks
After we turn 50, we all start to worry about cardiovascular disease and what to do about it. We might also fret about dementia and whether we will get Alzheimer’s — and arthritis is an ailment we prefer to do without. The inability to sleep, loss of energy, fatigue, anxiety, and depression might rear their ugly heads as well.
The Canon 5D Mark IV arrived almost 4 years after the amazing 5D Mark III and during those 4 years, almost every aspect of the camera has seen some form of upgrade. With a new 30MP sensor, faster 7fps shooting, 4k video, dual pixel autofocus, a touch screen, GPS and WIFI (to name a few), the Canon 5D Mark IV at first glance appears to be an amazing upgrade
Some folks who identify as progressive — and therefore oppose Clinton — still think it is OK to vote for Jill Stein in so-called safe states. I urge you to think again. No matter who wins on Tuesday, the only hope to advance a progressive agenda is to build a unified, integrated progressive movement at the local, state and national levels
If you don’t plan to vote because you think your vote doesn’t count please consider this: The world needs you to be their proxy. Polls show that most of the world passionately hopes that Hillary Clinton becomes president. Non-Americans can’t vote for her, but you can, on their behalf

This film, which received a standing ovation at its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2016, tells the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple who fought the Supreme Court to legalize interracial marriage.
“Moonlight” is a film as luminous as its title, a story in three chapters about the son of a crack addict, growing up in Florida, bullied and neglected. We see him as a child, befriended by a kind-hearted drug dealer, as a teenager, abused by classmates and having his first sexual encounter with another boy

With luck the US presidential election results will be decisive on November 8. There will be a clear winner and no election disputes will emerge. Yet as the polls tighten nationally and in critical swing states there are possibilities of a contested election
Electing the country’s first female president is going to be a ground breaking accomplishment. What it will mean for us here in America, and to people around the world, to see a woman serving as Commander-in-Chief will be powerful. Electing Hillary will change the way women are viewed as leaders and pave the way for other women to serve in elected office
Co-Authored by Maclen Zilber, Democratic Strategist and Campaign Consultant based in Hollywood, CA Despite the recent scandal swirling around FBI Director James Comey stemming from his controversial and unprecedented engagement in the 2016 race for the White House, most public opinion polls continue to show that Hillary Clinton has a firm structural electoral college advantage in the race to become America’s 45th President.
FBI Director James Comey’s brief letter to eight Congressional committee chairpersons updating them that that the FBI would investigate further emails from Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton found on the computer of her aide’s husband, Anthony Weiner, has shifted the Presidential polls. FBI director James Comey feared “being misunderstood,” but surely he knew that Mr. Trump and partisan media would swing into full conspiracy theory combat.
It seems that offensive antics are par for the course for these two “golfers.” Evan Shay and Morgan Ruig, both 28-year-olds from Brisbane, Australia, claim to have passed themselves off as the Australian national team for an international golf tournament in North Korea as a joke. “Initially we just said we were a couple of Australian golfers and they said, ‘You are the Australian team,’ and we sort of didn’t say no,” said Ruig, a real estate agent who told 9News the stunt started when the pair was in Beijing for a polo tournament. The two are now reveling in their feat after returning safely from a country the U.S. sanctioned earlier this year for human rights abuses . The media is largely applauding the men for carrying out an epic “prank ” or dismissing them with a wink as harmless hooligans .

As we get close to the election, it’s clear that something should be done, at the federal or state level or both, to address the shortcomings of the Affordable Care Act. The news that premiums on the so-called Obamacare benchmark health plans will be 25 percent higher on average next year came on the heels of earlier reports that people in most states will have considerably fewer health plans to choose from
The first time I heard about the Movember Foundation was when my sister sent me an article about a group of guys in Australia who were growing lip-lawns for charity. And, when I finished reading it, I had some very mixed emotions
Known for their otherworldly aesthetic and psychedelic visuals, Australian electronic-duo Empire of the Sun is intent on spreading a positive message with their third album Two Vines. There is a lot of distortion in the world, says Luke Steele (one half of the duo, and also frontman for indie rock band The Sleepy Jackson), and he doesn’t want to add to it.

There’s so much stress and pressure on parents and kids today, we forget our sense of humor. We need to have fun time with our kids so they become resilient, enjoyable, and find time with us as pleasant, loving people who are great to spend time with.
Human skin is constantly assaulted by the external environment, protecting us from air, Ultraviolet radiation (UVR), environmental pollutants, and other mechanical and chemical insults, all of which have been piled into the coined term ” exposome ,” to describe the entirety of exposures to which an individual is subjected. The skin’s ability to protect us can be easily impaired by numerous factors such as psychological stress, alcohol and illicit drug intake, and poor nutrition, all of which further allow external factors to do harm by creating free radicals such as reactive oxygen species (ROS)
If you’ve heard common student-loan horror stories, you might think that borrowing for school will leave you owing six figures, facing arrest for failure to pay and shackling your family to your debt even if you die. But those are extreme cases. Student loans are a smart career investment as long as you borrow in moderation and graduate.
Capitalism is predicated on the idea of individual initiative. The most obvious economic manifestation of that is entrepreneurship, a talent that’s touted on the television show Shark Tank , a kind of American Idol for those with an acumen for business. But the greatest capitalist of them all Adam Smith, the author of The Wealth of Nations , which did for capitalism what Das Kapital would for revolution, also wrote a book called The Theory of Moral Sentiments in which human empathy was the subject

It is interesting that FBI director James Comey, who must know how many emails are involved, has not, as far as I know, released any precise numbers. (Or precise anything for that matter.) Let us say, for the sake of argument, that the number is 10,000.
Well, the spirit of FBI director J Edgar Hoover lives on in the recent actions of current director Comey. For those who are too young to recall, or who have forgotten in the pileup of history since Hoover’s death, J Edgar and his notorious underlings did their best to discredit Rev

James Comey’s decision to inform Congress that the FBI had discovered emails on a laptop belonging to disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner that may be relevant to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server has roiled the presidential campaign with days to go before the election. His letter provided little details about the emails, leaving the ambiguous discloser subject to interpretation and wild speculation by Trump supporters. At a Friday rally, Donald Trump hailed the news as “bigger than Watergate,” even though all of the emails may be just copies of those released earlier to the FBI.
We’re in 2016 and we start our grim mid-week morning in a Ferrari that transports us back to 1985, the year that marked the arrival of the Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio.
